The Panthers Code of Conduct
The Vaughan Panthers Basketball Club is built on the pillars of Respect, Discipline, and Sportsmanship. All members are expected to adhere to these standards.
The Premier Place to Play Basketball!
For Players:
Respect the Game: Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials with the utmost respect. Trash talking or unsportsmanlike conduct is not tolerated.
Commitment: Attendance at all practices and games is mandatory. If a conflict arises, communication with the coaching staff must happen at least 24 hours in advance.
Work Ethic: Come to every practice ready to work. Competitive ability is built in the gym when no one is watching.
Academic Balance: We believe in the “Student-Athlete.” Players are encouraged to maintain high academic standards to remain eligible for play.
For Parents:
The 24-Hour Rule: To ensure productive communication, parents are asked to wait 24 hours after a game before discussing playing time or coaching decisions with the staff.
Positive Sideline Presence: Be your child’s biggest fan, not their second coach. We encourage loud, positive cheering for the whole team and discourage coaching from the sidelines, which can confuse players.
Volunteerism: As a non-profit club, we thrive on parent involvement. Whether it’s managing a carpool, helping with fundraising, or keeping the score clock, your contribution makes the season possible.
Official Respect: Respect the referees’ decisions. Our players take their cues from the adults; a calm and respectful sideline leads to a focused and disciplined team.
